This privacy policy aims to give you information on how Stove collects and processes your personal data through your use of this website (www.stovecook.com), including any data you may provide through this website when you use the Stove services as a Cook or a Host (“Stove Services”). In this privacy policy, “you” means any user of our website and services including Hosts and Cooks. This website is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.


It is important that you read this privacy policy together with any other privacy policy or fair processing policy we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing personal data about you so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your data. This privacy policy supplements other notices and privacy policies and is not intended to override them.

Third party websites and services


This website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications; for example, if you participate in a cook-along as a Host or Cook, you will use Google Hangouts which is a third party software application provided by Google. Using third party services or enabling connections with third parties may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party services / websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements. When you leave our website, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.


3. THE DATA WE PROCESS ABOUT YOU


Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).


We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:


Identity Data includes first name, last name and any other identifiers such as a device ID.

Contact Data includes email address.

Financial Data includes payment card details, processed by our payment services provider, Stripe.

Transaction Data includes details about payments to and/or from you.

Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this website.

Profile Data includes your username (if you’ve made one), your audio and audiovisual content shared in relation to the Stove Services (such as live and non-live cook-along videos you’ve created as a Host), your Stove Services activities (such as the videos you’ve viewed as a Cook), your communications with us, your interests, preferences, feedback and survey responses.

Usage Data includes information about how you use our website, products and services.


We also collect, use and share aggregated data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregated data could be derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data in law as this data will not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. For example, we may aggregate your Usage Data to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific website feature. However, if we combine or connect aggregated data with your personal data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we treat the combined data as personal data which will be used in accordance with this privacy policy.


We do not collect any Special Categories of personal data about you (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health, and genetic and biometric data). Nor do we collect any information about criminal convictions and offences.


If you fail to provide personal data


Where we need to collect personal data by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you, and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to provide you with goods or services). In this case, we may have to cancel a product or service you have with us but we will notify you if this is the case at the time.

This includes personal data you provide when you sign up as a Host or Cook; create an account on our website; enter a competition, promotion or survey; or give us feedback or contact us.

Automated technologies or interactions. As you interact with our website, we will automatically collect Technical Data about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns. Third parties or publicly available sources. We will receive personal data about you from analytics providers, such as Google based outside the EU.


5. HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA


We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:


Where we need to perform the contract we are about to enter into or have entered into with you.

External third parties as follows:

Service providers acting as data processors based in the UK, EU and the US who provide IT and system administration services.

Other users of the Stove Services, such as during Google Hangouts where your email address may be visible to other users.

Professional advisers acting as processors or controllers including lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers based in the UK who provide consultancy, banking, legal, insurance and accounting services.

HM Revenue & Customs, regulators, police and other authorities based in the United Kingdom who require reporting of processing activities in certain circumstances or with whom we may share data in order to detect or prevent crime.

Third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer or merge parts of our business or our assets. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If a change happens to our business, then the new owners may use your personal data in the same way as set out in this privacy policy.


We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.


7. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS


Our external third parties are based in the UK, EU and US so their processing of your personal data will involve an international transfer of data. Whenever we transfer your personal data internationally, we ensure the degree of protection it is afforded in the EEA by ensuring at least one of the following safeguards is implemented:


We will only transfer your personal data to countries that have been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data by the European Commission.

Where we use certain service providers, we may use specific contracts approved by the European Commission which give personal data the same protection it has in Europe.

Where we use providers based in the US, we may transfer data to them if they are part of the Privacy Shield which requires them to provide similar protection to personal data shared between Europe and the US.

8. DATA SECURITY


We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.


We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.


9. DATA RETENTION


How long will you use my personal data for?


We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements. We may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.


To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or other requirements.


By law we have to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they cease being customers for tax purposes.
